FREE SOLAR TOOLS
Free solar calculators
Working out if a roof is right for solar starts with two numbers: which way it faces (the azimuth) and how steep it is (the tilt). These free calculators give you both in under a minute, plus the coordinates every solar design tool asks for and a side by side comparison of how much energy each direction makes, straight from your browser.
No signup, no app, and nothing gets uploaded.
Roof Azimuth Calculator
Type your address, draw a line on a satellite photo of your roof and get its exact azimuth from true north. Works for any address in the world.
Roof Tilt Calculator
Take a photo of your roof, line up two guides and get the tilt angle in degrees plus the pitch ratio. Your photo never leaves your phone.
Solar Panel Angle Calculator
Find the best tilt and direction for solar panels at any address or ZIP code, with summer and winter angles and yearly kWh. Works anywhere in the world.
Solar Roof Calculator: How Many Panels Fit
Trace your roof on the satellite map to see how many solar panels fit, the system size in kW and yearly kWh. Square feet or metres.
Latitude & Longitude Finder
Turn any address into GPS coordinates, or drop a pin on the satellite map. Decimal degrees and DMS, with a copy button for each.
Why are these calculators free?
PV Fleet is a solar monitoring service. We watch solar systems all day and alert owners when a panel or inverter develops a fault. The better you understand your roof, the better your solar decisions, whether you're comparing quotes or trying to work out why your system underperforms. So we built the tools we wished existed and made them free.
If you already have solar, the direction and angle of your roof were locked in the day the house was built. What isn't locked in is whether every panel is still working. That's the part we help with. Here's how PV Fleet works.
Own solar already?
Orientation sets the ceiling on what your system can produce. Faults decide whether it gets there. PV Fleet connects to your inverter, learns how your system should perform and alerts you within hours when something goes wrong.
